August 10, 2013 Day 80 Northumberland
Strait
Silver Fox Yacht and Curling ClubSummerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada
Saturday usually means farmers’ market day,
and this was no exception. It was a short walk from the marina and we
enjoyed browsing the variety of booths of meat, baked goods, pottery, knitting,
vegetables, etc. We came back with PEI
potatoes, local wine, and a gift!
We got a few chores done and then after lunch
drove with Ron and Lisa to Charlottetown, the capital andbirthplace of the Confederation. We walked around the harbor area and the
downtown area. First stop was Cows Ice Cream which is made in Charlottetown and
is excellent. We went in a few shops and
took pictures of some of the historical buildings and churches. We drove over to the Civic Center and
wandered around their Old Home Week events, (similar to a county fair) with
fiddlers, harness racing, carnival, animal judging. We did not get back until
10pm.
